Features of the CRKT M16 series

CRKT M16 steel types

The CRKT M16 is available in different high-quality steels. The most popular options are D2 steel and stainless Sandvik 12C27 steel. For the M16 series, CRKT chooses steels with excellent corrosion resistance that are easy to sharpen yourself.

CRKT M16 handle and lock

In terms of handle material, you also have plenty of options to choose from. From a complete stainless steel or aluminium handle, to a handle made of stainless steel liners with G10 or FRN handle scales. This knife is available with different locking mechanisms. From the popular liner lock to a more sturdy frame lock, or even a Deadbolt Lock. The latter was pioneered by CRKT. The unique part of the Deadbolt lock is the hardened steel wedge that falls into the cut-outs in the blade This construction is so incredibly strong that it's almost as strong as a fixed knife.

CRKT M16 colours

Most CRKT M16 knives feature a black coating. However, the M16 is also available in a light-brown, desert tan coating or a light-grey version without coating. These coatings are not just there to look great; they also improve the knife's corrosion resistance and scratch resistance.

CRKT M16 blades

The CRKT M16 is available in two blade shapes: spearpoint and tanto. A tanto blade has a strong point that is ideal for piercing. This shape is ideal for tactical purposes. A spearpoint blade offers versatile cutting and piercing power and is easy to sharpen yourself. In addition, the M16 comes with a standard, smooth edge or a partially serrated edge. Of the latter, you also have the 'Veff Serrations' version. This is a type of serration common to CRKT knives. It is especially suitable for cutting through tough materials like rope.
