## Cutting board made from hinoki wood

Hinoki wood is an excellent choice of material for this cutting board. This type of wood is lightweight and relatively soft. As a result, the board protects the cutting edges of your knives. This wood also has natural antibacterial and self-cleaning properties. The board is also water-resistant. It's not dishwasher-safe, but it is easy to clean by hand. What more could you possibly ask for?

## Cleaning your cutting board

To make sure your cutting board stays in great shape you need to maintain it! Fortunately this isn't as much work as you might think. Clean the board after use by holding it under a tap and dry it with a towel. The cutting board is not dishwasher safe. Place the board upright (or hang it) to make sure it dries properly.

## Adding oil to your cutting board

Wooden cutting boards need to be maintained. To make sure the cutting board stays in great shape we recommend adding a coat of oil before use. It makes the cleaning process easier, the wood won't dry out and it ensures that scratches are less visible. It is best to use a flavourless and fragrance-less oil. Almond or grape seed oil, for instance. (Please note: we do not recommend using almond oil if you are allergic to nuts). White mineral oil is also possible, but we recommend using [Eden cutting board oil](/en/pt/-eden-essentials-mineral-oil-for-wooden-cutting-boards-120-ml.htm). Don't use olive oil because it will become sticky. Of course, you'd want to avoid this. Add a coat of oil once every month.
