Full description

The Brisa Piili 85, 2860 is a pocket knife designed by Jukka Hankala. This Finnish designer has won many awards. The Brisa Piili 85 has a typically Scandinavian look. You could describe it as a foldable Puukko knife. The G10 scales have steel liners and ensure you have plenty of grip. The blade is made from stainless Elmax steel. This Austrian steel has exceptional sharpness retention and has been made to be used.

Bought knife secondhand in excellent condition. A week later, In a fit of tipsy goodwill, I gave it to a good friend. Waited two days then bought a new one from Heinnie—couldn't be without it any longer. What more can I say? Oh yes, it feels smooth and natural in the hand, like a pebble in a river that's been worn down till it's just right. I have a LOT of knives and this is one of my favourite.

Generally this is a reasonable knife with a weighty feel about - possibly too weighty, given the nature and intended purpose of the knife. There is a lot of material used in the rear of the spring (which doubles as the spacer), which seems to account for this. The reason I bought it is that I liked the european look of it and I have a couple of other Enzos that I am very pleased with, particularly in terms of the build quality and use of materials. I had high hopes for this blade! What lets it down is that there is very slight movement of the blade in the open position and, when closed, the blade tip is noticeably off-centre between the liners. Overall this wasn't quite enough for me to send the knife back, but I have similarly styled knives from the likes of Renoux and Perceval that were not hugely more expensive but are significantly better finished. I appreciate mine might be a one-off, but potential purchasers may wish to ask their supplier to check blade alignment before dispatching the knife.
