The **CRKT Squid XM Button Lock 2495GR Stonewashed D2, Green Micarta** is a practical pocket knife for everyday use, designed by Lucas Burnley. For this version of the Squid XM, the frame lock has given way to a button lock. A practical lock with a high fidget-factor!

The Squid XM is the larger version of the popular CRKT Squid. But how much bigger is de Squid XM? The blade is 7.5 cm long. Approximately 2 cm longer than that of the standard Squid. As such this version is a little better suited for the more demanding cutting tasks. Despite its larger size the Squid XM still looks friendly with its droppoint style blade.



The CRKT Squid XM Button Lock 2495GR Stonewashed D2, Green Micarta, pocket knife, Lucas Burnley design is a cool EDC knife in the colour green. With its blade length of 7.5 cm, this knife is suitable for daily cutting tasks. For example, opening boxes, peeling an apple, the odd job around the house: this pocket knife can do it all.



You can easily open the CRKT Squid XM Button Lock 2495GR Stonewashed D2, Green Micarta, pocket knife, Lucas Burnley design with one hand using the thumb stud. The pocket knife runs on ball bearrings, making the action nice and smooth. Once opened, a button lock mechanism keeps the blade in place and prevents the blade from unintentionally snapping shut. ## Blade made of D2 steel

This is a tool steel that has been used for all kinds of cutting tools since World War II. It is tough, easy to sharpen and retains its sharpness very well. Do take care around moisture and acids; D2 is not entirely stainless. It may discolour or even rust if not properly taken care of. The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.



## Micarta handle

The handle of this CRKT Squid is made of micarta and measures 10.4 cm in length. Micarta is a great material for pocket knife handles. This material is grippy, relatively lightweight and it looks very cool. It is composed of fabric fibres and synthetic resin. The resulting layers often even make micarta look a bit like wood. However, it is a very stable and strong material.
