Passion proceeds knowledge, dat blijkt maar weer. Ik wist helemaal niet dat Ruger een fabrikant was van pistolen en geweren. Dat is niet zo raar, ik ben alleen in messen geïnteresseerd. Maar goed, de fabrikant van vuurwapens, stapt samen met CRKT in de wereld van de messen. En volgens mij doen ze dat meteen goed! Nu is Columbia River Knives and Tools (CRKT) ook geen kinderachtige partner. Ik heb deze Ruger 2-stage even naast mijn CRKT M18-04 gelegd ter vergelijking. (Op het snijvlak van de M18-04 zag ik enige roestvorming! Wat misschien niet zo verwonderlijk is, ik heb het mes al jaren.)
De Ruger is veel zwaarder en robuuster dan (bijvoorbeeld) de M18-04; hierdoor is het mes bij het dragen veel meer aanwezig. Bij het werken droeg ik de Ruger aan de zijkant van mijn werkbroek en ik kreeg de indruk dat gewicht niet altijd gunstig is, deze ga ik verliezen! Een lichter mes blijft beter zitten door de pocketclip. Het handvat van de Ruger is prima en het mes is vreselijk scherp, een heel fijn werkmes voor stevige taken. 
Het handvat is verzwaard voor een betere balans, met een hele dikke ruitentikker! Echt prima, zeer stevig. Als de nood aan de man is, heb je hier iets aan. 
Eigenlijk hoort dit mes in een goed foedraal aan de riem, dit is een mes waar je jaren plezier van gaat hebben, het is mooi vormgegeven gereedschap! Goed vormgegeven en functioneel: laat dat maar aan de mensen van CRKT over!
