The **Wüsthof Classic Ikon bread knife 23 cm** is indispensable when cutting all types of bread. From hard to soft crusts, from soft buns to baguettes. This all-round knife, however, can also cut through delicious pies or a large piece of celeriac.


**Please note:** this knife has an unusual tip! It looks broken or damaged, but was rounded by Wüsthof for safety reasons. After all, you won't hurt yourself if you use a blunt tip.

## The blade


Like with other Wüsthof collections the blade is made from X50CrMoV15 steel, which was sharpened according to the PEtec method, and polished by hand. This type of steel is also easy to sharpen.


Another advantage of this blade is the crop. It doesn’t extend all the way to the edge, but does separate the handle from the blade. As such you not only keep your fingers safe, you can also use the entire edge. Also great when you want to sharpen the knife.


## The handle


The handle is made from rock-solid POM. This is a shock, heat and acid proof material you can easily clean. Perfect for kitchen knives. The steel of the blade seamlessly merges with the handle. This is not only a rock-solid connection, it also provides great balance. Combined with the ergonomic shape this knife feels amazing in hand.


## Wüsthof Classic Ikon


In only a short amount of time the Wüsthof Classic Ikon collection grew out to become one of Wüsthof’s most popular collections. Not surprising as these knives perfectly combine classic and modern elements. Ein tolles Brotmesser, dass bei jedem Schnitt überzeugt. Selbst hartes Brot schneidet man damit gut und präzise. Der nach außen gerichtete Wellenschliff ist eine feine Sache! 

Entspricht meinen Erwartungen- scharfe Messer aus Solingen :-). Die Brotsägen muss man dem Brot quasi nur zeigen und es schneidet sich von selbst. Es ist höllisch scharf und schneidet auch 2-3 Tage altes Brot wirklich easy! Ich hoffe, dass bleibt auch eine Weile so! 

Quite impressed with the bread knife in both quality and price. Can slice bread very thin and without effort. Also impressed with the speed of delivery.

This is simply the best bread knife I've ever owned. I make my own bread, and after a day, the crust was extremely tough to cut with my previous bread knife. My wife had a recent wrist sprain injury too, so I had to cut bread when she wanted it. So we splashed out on a decent knife, going with this Wusthof after a bit of research. It is now a joy to cut even the toughest crusts with it - is perfectly weighted and balanced, and will cut really hard or really soft bread into slices as thin and straight as you could want. Purchase of the year.

Please note that knives are almost always sharpened by hand, even in factories. This value is therefore only an indication of a single tool measured by us.
