In General, Spyderco is one of the manufacturers which build their name on well thought out and completely reliable products, in which innovations and quality materials are merged in high build level and superb functionality. I own a few models, manufactured in different countries, and can say that the quality control is good and consistent, as well as that each of it is great value for its price. (The only note that could be found is on the cutting edge grinding - slightly uneven towards the tip sometimes.) The Para Military 2 - in personal I find this model as more balanced in the entire Military line - is no exception from the above mentioned. Moreover, as being completely manufactured in the USA, all the used materials are top end and machined with great attention on the details. As an example for the latter, I will mention the fine jumping on the thumb ramp and the choil as well as the texture pattern on the G10 scales, which adds a lot to the functionality of the knife. Also, the knife is so well adjusted that it is completely ready for use right out of the box. My first impression in use is that the entire aesthetics of the knife does not interfere by no means with it functionality. Everything is well thought out and nothing is left by chance. Of course, there are some peculiarities, which will be noted below. The inserted stainless lines are skeletonized and for it size the knife feels reasonably light. The balance point (in unfolded position) is at the position of the middle finger (just behind the choil) which in combination with the total weight, gives the knife nice maneuverability and does not cause hand fatigue. The handle thickness (of 10 mm) provides good balance between comfort of carrying and comfort of use of the knife (up to a moderate heavy duty tasks, without gloves, in my case). In terms of different grip holdings, overall, the knife feels nice and solid. The pocket clip (left/right, tip up/down carry) does not cause hot spots, as well. The blade runs on bronze washers and folding/unfolding of the knife is flawless. The compression lock is solid and works very reliable. Have to mention that, at flick-opening, the locking spring might cause a soft touch/hit on the base of the index finger (especially at squeezing the handle stronger), which does not affect the locking, but could be initially annoying (the hand adjusts naturally to it within a day or two, in my case). The blade shape provides fine tip, with good and fast access to it, for detailed work and strong base for more heavy tasks. The cpm s45vn on the blade shows up really well (could not notice any significant differences compared to s30v, except that it is more stainless). In terms of overall performance, the knife could be positioned as full hand size EDC folder with extended functionality range towards, both, finer works and heavy tasks. Of course, this is not the "do-it-all" knife, but a reliable tool for wide variety of tasks. Based on the positive experience I have with this knife, I do recommend it, especially to those who like folders with military vibe. Great service and delivery, thank you "knives and tools".
