The **KA-BAR 5017 USMC** is a legendary fixed knife. In 1942 this knife was used by the United States Marine Corps as a standard fighting knife for the marines. Ever since this knife is a part of the standard equipment of many soldiers. The knife is big and feels very strong. The handle is enhanced with a knife guard to make sure you will never end up on the razor-sharp edge during heavy-duty use. The blade is made from 1095-carbon steel. This steel, however, is not corrosion-resistant. Fortunately the blade is enhanced with a black coating to make sure maintenance is a lot easier. The handle is made from stacked leather rings. It feels comfortable in hand, even in the freezing cold.



## KA-BAR 1217: living legend


This 5017 is, with a leather sheath, better known as the 1217. During the 70 years that the KA-BAR 1217 has been around it became a real living legend. This knife was copied often and many renowned manufacturers produced a version of this model. As such KA-BAR almost became a generic name for this amazing knife. You should, however, never forget that there is only one original: the KA-BAR 1217, made by KA-BAR in New York.



You can carry the KA-BAR 5017 in the included plastic sheath with belt loop. This one is perfect for left and right-handed use. Also great: the sheath is enhanced with a retention system to make sure the knife stays in place inside the sheath.

Très bon couteau, tranchant rasoir, j’apprécie particulièrement l’étui de sécurité en plastique qui empêche de perdre le couteau lors d’un déplacement ou d’un mouvement.
La lame est robuste et peut aussi bien couper, trancher que perforer.
C’est un excellent poignard que je recommande vivement.
