The **CRKT Homefront EDC** is a unique pocket knife designed by Ken Onion. At first glance this knife might not look that special: a design inspired by the knives from the war: flipper, stonewashed finish, nothing more. All great until you have used it for a while and decide it needs to be cleaned: that is when you realize how amazing this design is. You can take it apart in only thirty seconds and reassemble it in the same amount of time. Seriously? Yes, seriously. 

 This by Ken Onion patented Field Strip Technology is so simple it is hard to imagine that it didn't exist yet. Turn a latch, loosen the wheel: open. You clean it and repeat the process, but then reversed. Within thirty seconds it will be fully assembled again. Perfect when you work in surroundings where dirt is a problem. Think of soldiers, mechanics and hunters.

 The blade is made from 4116 German steel. A very tough piece of steel. Easy to sharpen, ideal for a knife that is used a lot. The flipper opens the blade with a firm click. When opened the linerlock keeps the blade in place. The handle is made from FRN. This is glass fibre reinforced nylon. Incredibly strong and light-weight.

Het mes ligt lekker in de hand en wordt vlijmscherp geleverd. Het handvat van FRN is superlicht. Dus ondanks het formaat kun je het mes bijna ongemerkt in je zak dragen. 

De enige minpuntjes zijn de pocketclip die je niet kan verzetten. (alleen rechterkant, tip up). En de scherpe randen van het FRN handvat aan de binnenzijde. Ik heb het mes nog niet zwaar gebruikt, maar het lijkt mij dat niet echt comfortabel aanvoelt bij het zwaardere snijwerk.

Het field strip mechanisme is echter wat dit mes onderscheid van de rest. In een paar seconden kun je het mes volledig uit elkaar halen, schoonmaken en weer in elkaar zetten, zonder gereedschap. Absoluut een aanrader. 

Zeer licht mes,  niet te groot ,  niet te klein.  Makkelijk te openen.  Ik  vind vaak dat messen met dit formaat  zwaar zijn en dat je goed voelt dat je  het bij je draagt .  Dat is bij dit mes dus niet.  Als ik iets moet zoeken wat ik graag anders zou willen hebben dan is het de plaats van de pocketclip.   Bij veel messen kunnje die verzetten.  Dat ik dit mes niet mogelijk.  Het is meer persoonlijke voorkeur maar als je het een dag bij je draagt  weet je niet beter.  Kortom een perfect EDC mes.  

Mooi en lichtgewicht mes.gebruik het als edc en bevalt goed. Staalsoort kan beter maar is zeker goed te noemen.fieldstrip optie is een mooie plus! Gewoon een goed mes.
