The **Cold Steel SRK in SK5** is a very solid and robust fixed knife. SRK stands for Search and Rescue knife. As such this decent survival knife will never let you down. Not only during survival trips, also while hunting.


The blade is made from SK5 steel. This is type of carbon steel that can handle its own. Not completely stainless, but the coating will help with this.


The 5 mm blade is relatively thick. However, because it has a thin grind it is amazing to work with. It is a healthy balance between cutting properties and solidity. The Kray-Ex handle offers a lot of grip, even in wet circumstances. The solid Secure-Ex holster is enhanced with a press-stud to make sure you don't lose the knife.

mooi ding lekker gewicht en lekker groot, prima geschikt om mee the bushcraften alleen check even de wet om te kijken wat je er wel en niet mee mag. heel klein prijsje voor de kwaliteteit ook :D

Die Scheide ist nicht aus Kydex aber trotzdem richtig gut. Der Griff ist gut gemacht. Auf Dauer sind vielleicht Handschuhe zum Arbeiten notwendig. Schön dass es das Messer mit vier verschiedenen Farben des Griffs gibt. Die Beschichtung wird sich an manchen Stellen schnell ablösen. Auf die Spitze wird man aufpassen müssen, also am besten nicht hebeln. Scharf ist es und geht gut ins Holz.

Está bien para el precio. Parece que se atasca un poco en la funda, quizá sea un mal ajuste de mi artículo en particular. Compré la versión compacta primero y me pareció pequeño. La ergonomía del mango de éste es más cómoda.

I love this knife... but...
The reputation of the SRK precedes this review, and I don't have much to add to all that has already been said.  I do love the SRK (and SRK-C), but I am really not a fan of hollow grinds.  It does however perform beautifully at most tasks and makes for an excellent budget "survival" knife.  However, if you have a little more cash to spend I would HIGHLY recommend going for the Cold Steel SRK in CPM-3V... not only because of the premium steel but that edition doers have a flat grind, which takes this knife to a whole new level!
Alternatively, if you like this general design but want something even more premium & potent, take a look at the Fallkniven A1 or S1 (or the "X" series of either of those), these offer a far more functional knife for the heavier tasks, especially processing wood, and have a beautiful convex grind that comes hair shaving sharp.  I hope thios helps a little for those who may be undecided.  Blessings... Puccini (UK)
