This is an extremely well made top quality general purpose knife. It arrived very sharp, but I gave it a little honing just to bring it up to razor sharpness. As a retired engineer, I require and use a utility knife almost every day with hobbies and projects; it really fits the bill. The blade is 3in in length but is not UK street legal as it has a locking blade. The only criticism I have concerns the sheath or pouch. The belt strap is mounted far too low, this causes the top of the of the sheath to project above the belt by approximately 40mm / 1½in The top of the sheath then digs into your waist with almost every movement. I removed the strap and using copper rivets, mounted it higher so it now sits comfortably, why the manufacturers haven't done this I really don't know. I inserted a small slither of black felt inside the sheath to stop the knife from being scratched by the copper rivets. Very pleased with the alteration and quality of the knife/sheath in general.

Bought as a gift for a fellow hunter, I have the slightly large 110. They're excellent knives and hold an edge well and are easy to get very sharp. I like the leather pouches that they come with. Just a nice knife that should last.

The Buck 112 Ranger is everything that should be and is expected from such an iconic knife and such an iconic company as Buck. As a collector of folding knives I always feel that you can over evaluate the product instead of seeing it for what it really is .The Buck 112 is right up there with all the Worlds other major companies who produce quality knives. Out of the box it just looks and feels solid with a heavy made feel that highlights a good working folder. It just feels right ! Like a traditional pocket knfe should . The aesthetics of brass liners and bolsters and the dark wood scales and a nice stainless blade will appeal to anyone who appreciates a quality piece of kit. My only request to Buck would be to offer the choice of a nice brown belt sheath instead of only the black leather one that is supplied with the Buck 112. A deffinite must for any pocket knife user or collector.

Quality, quality, quality. These are the first three words that spring to mind as soon as you open the box. It’s heavy and solid, you immediately understand it’s not a fidget that will last a couple of months and then give up the ghost. I’ll pass this to my son when he is old enough...it’ll still be a lovely piece with a great daddy-patina on it. I’m looking at the 110 now...although it’s over 3” and cannot edc...
