Superbly crafted beautiful knife , the complete product is absolutely perfect in design, the ASAP assisted opening takes a little getting used to with one hand but it's soon mastered, compared to my Buck 112A Lock knife you can immediately tell this is generations on, it's just superb , by comparison to the lock design, the micarta handles just feel nice and will never slip , irrespective of the design reason for this material , it just feels nice in the hand making you feeling for it. The handle design is also easy to clean with a cotton bud, the blade just looks beautiful but also has a perfect shape for pretty much anything your likely to through at it. I've used this as a chef knife and its superb , kitchen knifes should be all S30V , I was initiatally concerned about going to an S30V blade due to comments about difficulty sharpening the blade , most of my other blades are Buck 420HC , I used a £10 - fine grain wet stone it's 1cm wide about 15cm long and 0.5cm thick, the blade comes out razor sharp , I used this for around 3 weeks then and after having to use the knife for some extensive cooking prep around my folks for a few days , who still insist on a glass chopping board - no wonder I couldn't find a sharp knife in the house! The blade dulled , this literally took 5 minutes on the stone to bring back up to a razor sharpness again so don't be put off , if your not familiar with sharpening blades I use a few drops of any soap as that just happens to ne around and works well ,on the stone make small clockwise circles against the blade at the angle of the blade cut without too much pressure , down the length of the blade alternating each minute approx and you'll have it sharp , the stone have is light enough to chuck in a Ruck sack.
