This **wooden Wüsthof knife block** ensures that your knives are always close and safely stored. The block has room for 16 different tools: eight different kitchen knives, six steak knives, a meat fork and a sharpening or honing steel. Also great: this knife block is enhanced with small rubber feet to make sure it won't scratch the surface of your counter top.

## Which knives fit in this knife block?

When you purchase an empty knife block it is, of course, important to know which knives fit inside. We measured this knife block. From the top left to the bottom righ the dimensions of the openings are:

  * Width: 1.7 cm, depth: 28 cm (this opening is square and meant for a honing or sharpening steel)
  * Width: 5.8 cm, depth: 28 cm
  * Width: 2.8 cm, depth: 27.5 cm
  * Width: 5.8 cm, depth: 27.5 cm 
  * Width: 2.9 cm, depth: 25.5 cm
  * Width: 4.5 cm, depth: 25.5 cm
  * Width: 3.1 cm, depth: 22.8 cm (this opening is a little bigger and suited for a meat fork)
  * Width: 4.5 cm, depth: 23.2 cm
  * Width: 2.5 cm, depth: 21.2 cm
  * Width: 2.4 cm, depth: 21.2 cm
  * The base contains six slots for the steak knives with the following dimensions: width: 2.4 cm, depth: 12.3 cm

The depth is the maximum length of the blade that fits inside the block. The width of the slot is how high the blade is that fits inside. For all knives we list the length and height of the blade.

## The importance of a knife block

It is important to store your kitchen knives carefully. Never store individual kitchen knives in your kitchen drawer. If the edges come into contact with each other, your blades will be irrevocably damaged. With blade guards, a knife block or a knife magnet you can prevent this from happening.
