The *Reate Hills* is an unusual specimen. It almost certainly derives its name from the undulating lines of the blade and handle. The length of the blade in relation to the length of the handle is remarkable. 


The Hills has a notably large blade for its size. Its ratio of blade length to handle length is truly perfect. The total length of the blade, from lockface to knife tip, is 11.35 cm. The total length of the handle is 12.1 cm. This means that the blade fills 94% of the handle length. Those remaining millimetres are needed for the stop pin and for your safety so you don't prick the knife tip while the knife is folded. 


The drop point blade is made from S35VN steel. Its stonewashed finish effectively masks any traces of use. A good choice for a utility knife. You open the blade with the flipper, and because the knife runs on ball bearings, it really does fly out. When opened, the blade is held in place by the frame lock. 


The frame lock is equipped with a steel insert that also functions as an overtravel stop. The overtravel stop makes sure that the frame lock doesn't bend too far. A noteworthy feature is that the steel insert is screwed into the handle from the inside. This means you don't have to see a big screw head on your frame lock. The handles are made of two solid titanium scales. Two standoffs hold the scales firmly in place. The open construction makes it easy to clean the knife without taking it apart. As well as the handle, the pocket clip is also made of titanium. The handle's beautifully milled contours and curves make it incredibly comfortable in hand. 


The Reate Hills is a beautiful, functional knife with a lot of blade for its length.
