The **Medford Praetorian Genesis T** is the mid-size version of Medford’s most famous pocket knife. Large, robust and incredibly solid: the Praetorian is it all. 100% made in the United States, from American materials, in a company run by veteran.


The large D2 steel blade has been enhanced with a hollow grind that has been applied by hand. This is a unique feature: it doesn’t occur often that a manufacturer applies a hollow grind by hand. Because of the royal thumb groove you can easily open the knife. At first it could take a little getting used to. When opened the solid framelock neatly keeps the blade in place. Medford pushed the stop-pin into the blade. As a result it symmetrically leans against the handle making it extra strong.


D2 is a type of tool steel that always needs maintenance and oil. Some budget knives use D2 as a cheap option with a rudimentary heat treatment. Medford, however, does whatever it can to turn D2 into a top-quality type of steel with excellent properties. So definitely not a budget option!


Medford has enhanced this model with a flamed finish on the presentation side and the pocket clip. The lockside has a blue anodized finish and the blade has been enhanced with a ‘tumbled finish’, so a stonewashed finish. For the contrast the pivot and backspacer kept their original colour.


Each Medford knife is made by hand by talented knife makers. Individual differences therefore occur which make each knife unique. All blades are given a hollow grind that is applied by hand. It takes approximately one year for Medford to ship their knives. Knives that are available on our website are in stock and can immediately be shipped. However, be there in time: it might take a while for the new stock to arrive!
