The **Medford Burung** is a large and robust karambit, with the look and feel of a Medford knife. It is made by Medford Knife & Tool in the United States and can be opened with the thumb hole or the flipper. The D2 steel blade has been enhanced with a hollow grind that was applied by hand. This is a unique feature: it doesn’t occur often that a manufacturer applies a hollow grind by hand. Because of the royal thumb groove you can easily open the knife. At first it could take a little getting used to. When opened the solid framelock neatly keeps the blade in place. Medford pushed the stop-pin into the blade. As a result it symmetrically leans against the handle making it extra strong.


D2 is a type of tool steel that always needs maintenance and oil. Some budget knives use D2 as a cheap option with a rudimentary heat treatment. Medford, however, does whatever it can to turn D2 into a top-quality type of steel with excellent properties. So definitely not a budget option!


Medford has enhanced this model with a titanium handle with a blue anodized finish. The blade has been stonewashed, even though you can also see the grinding lines of the hollow grind which look like a type of satin finish.


Each Medford knife is made by hand by talented knife makers. Individual differences therefore occur which make each knife unique. All blades are given a hollow grind that is applied by hand. It takes approximately one year for Medford to ship their knives. Knives that are available on our website are in stock and can immediately be shipped. However, be there in time: it might take a while for the new stock to arrive!
