Italian design has an excellent reputation to maintain. A reputation which is once again validated by the beautiful details of the LionSteel TiSpine knives. The handle is milled from a single piece of titanium. A single pair of screws is used to mount the knife. Robert Young Pelton has designed the grooves in a fluent pattern and these are milled on a CNC lathe within strict tolerances. Pelton intended to create the lightest, most slender and yet strongest pocket knife in the world.   
  

The blade, which is made of Elmax powder steel, is locked by a frame lock. The thumb hole supports one handed opening.   
  

The pocket clip has been shaped with the same care as the rest of the knife. It’s mounted on the very edge of the handle, which is why the knife disappears almost entirely into your pocket.   
  

This knife is extremely functional and perfect for anyone who loves a combination of design, technique and beautiful materials.

Erster Eindruck: Schönes Teil. Leider zu schmal für meinen Geschmack. Das Loch zum Öffnen liegt für meine Finger/Hände zu nah am Griff (subjektiver Eindruck) Deshalb ist das Handling für mich zu hakelig. Für kleinere Hände dürfte es jedoch passen.


Das TiSpine setzt definitiv Masßstäbe in der Folder-Kategorie: Verarbeitung, Material, Funktionalität und Optik... einfach Genial!
Der hohe Preis ist schnell vergessen, wenn man das Messer in den Händen hält.
Die Auslieferungsschärfe des Elmax-Stahl ist beeindruckend scharf - ebenso wie die Schnitthaltigkeit. Das Nachschärfen ist trotz des harten PM-Stahls gut machbar.

Knives & Tools heeft zoals gewoonlijk de bestelling weer snel afgehandeld. De LionSteel TiSpine is echt fantastisch mes. Subliem afgewerkten volkomen spelingsvrij. Als ik toch even een criticaster wil zijn dan heb ik nog een paar kleine verbetervoorstellen voor de ontwerpers van dit mes: 

1. Jimping: als het mesopen is geklapt dan is een deel van de jumping lager dan de uitsparing in het titanium heft. Dus een deel van de jimping doet zijn werk niet.

2. Scherpe hoek: als het mes is ingeklapt dan heeft het mes een uitstekend hoekje aan het lemmet. Niet echt hinderlijk maar het had anders gekund.

3. Framelock onder pocketclip: de framelock zit mooi onder de pocketclip. Aan de basis van de framelock onder de pocketclip zit een een inkeping die soms maakt dat het in de broekzak steken van het mes wat 'hakerig' plaats vind.

4. Rechthoekige gat: om het mes niet op een Spyderco te laten lijken is gekozen voor een rechthoekig gat in het lemmet. Het werkt wel maar is even wennen.

Al met al ben ik zeer tevreden met het mes. Wel erg prijzig maar het is het geld zeker waard. Bijzonder hoog afwerkingsniveau. Nu de hamvraag: wordt het een vitrine-mes of een echt EDC?
