The **Knivesandtools fire-starting tool** is comprised of a paracord bracelet and lanyard. The bracelet and lanyard are made from rock-solid 550 paracord and enhanced with an emergency whistle, firesteel and compass. The main advantage of a paracord bracelet is that you carry 3 meters of paracord with you without really noticing it. Paracord has 1001 purposes: Whether you wish to hang a tarp, lift something heavy or want to use it as a shoelace: paracord will always come in handy.

 ## Knivesandtools fire-starting tool: the material

 The bracelet is made from paracord 550. This is a rock-solid, light-weight, nylon rope with a tractive force of no less than 250 kg. The rope is comprised of seven core strands you can also use individually. The tractive force might be a lot less, but it is still great to use. The thin strands from the core are said to also be used as suture material in case of an emergency.

 The lanyard is, like the bracelet made from paracord 550, but a little more special. The paracord of the lanyard is namely enhanced with tinder. Tinder is a lightly flammable material you can use to turn a spark into a fire. Cut a piece of the paracord off and fray the ends. That is when you will see the tinder. Crush the tinder and use the firesteel in the bracelet to create a fire.

 ## Knivesandtools fire-starting tool: With many extra's

 This bracelet is enhanced with an emergency whistle, a compass, and a firesteel. The [firesteel](/en/ct/using-a-firesteel.htm) is added to buckle. You need to remove the protective layer before first use. You simply scratch it off by moving the metal strip alongside the magnesium rod. After removing the protective layer you can start building your fire. Place the firesteel in a 45 degree angle. Move the metal strip alongside the magnesium rod and sparks will fly. You can build a fire in no time at all!
