This **Combekk Alu-X frying pan** is enhanced with a 26 cm diameter. It is namely the first frying pan that is made from recycled aluminium with a ceramic non-stick coating. The striking design of the frying pan is also called the 'Lyonnaise' shape: the edge is higher than with the 'regular' frying pans and it is curved. As such sautéing and mixing the ingredients will be a lot easier. The raised edge ensures that this frying pan is great for one-pot meals. The thick round handle (made from 100% recycled nylon) feels great in hand and won't heat up. It is very long to make sure your hands stay far away from the heat source. This frying pan, with a diameter of 26 cm (measured from the top) is, in general, great for dishes for 3 to 4 people.

## Ceramic non-stick coating

The Combekk Alu-X frying pan is enhanced with a ceramic non-stick coating. Ceramic non-stick coatings need a lot less, or often even no, oil or butter when you start cooking. Because the layer remains smooth food won't stick to the base. Do make sure the pan is very hot before you put food in it. If you prepare a dish that contains a lot of proteins, it is a good idea to put some oil in the pan. All because egg whites solidify.

The Combekk Alu-X frying pan **does not** contain PFAS and PFOA. These are man-made substances that do not naturally occur in the environment. You can find these substances in, amongst other things, frying pans, grill pans and wok pans with an artificial non-stick coating. Today we know that PFAS are harmful to your health. Ever since 2015 pans that contain PFAS can no longer be sold. But many people do still own a couple! Not that long ago we gave advice on how to select an [alternative for a teflon pan](/en/ct/alternative-teflon-pans.htm), that can contain PFAS. Because this Combekk Alu-X frying pan does not contain PFAS and PFOA you don't have to worry about an artificial non-stick coating that will 'chip' and end up in your food.

## Other advantages of a Combekk Alu-X frying pan

In addition to the Lyonnaise shape and the ceramic non-stick coating, the Combekk Alu-X pan has many more advantages. In short:

  * This pan can handle heat really well, better than a frying pan with a non-stick coating. This also ensures a long life.
  * Because food won't stick to the base it is also easy to clean.
  * Because of the steel base the Combekk Alu-X frying pan can be used on every heat source (except from the microwave and oven).
  * The pan distributes the heat well. As such the pan will evenly heat up and stay warm. There is no 'hotspot'.

Please note: this frying pan is not dishwasher proof. It can also, after removing it from the heat source, stay warm a little longer. 

## Combekk pans: steel that comes with a story

All pans from the Dutch Combekk come with a story. Combekk namely pays a lot of attention to sustainability, the environment and recycling. The brand, for instance, already used the materials from old bridges, buildings, bicycles and train tracks to produce pans. The Combekk Alu-X also comes with a story. It is namely the first frying pan that is made from recycled aluminium with a ceramic non-stick coating. Recycling aluminium takes about 5% of the energy necessary to produce new aluminium. The handle is also made from recycled material, nylon to be precise.
