Full description
The Cold Steel Trail hawk is a light axe/tomahawk made from 1055 carbon steel with a hardness of 58 HRC. The handle is made of American Hickory wood. This axe is made by American Tomahawk commissioned by Cold Steel. The hawk has a hardened Trail head on the back of the ax, so you can use it as a hammer.

I like this tool but it came blunt and with varnish on the handle so it gave me blisters. I scraped off the varnish and linseed oiled the handle. I like carrying this with a hultsfors heavy duty knife because you can use the hammer poll to baton kindling without having to make a baton. It’s a little too thin to be a good splitter but it’s a fun and relatively lightweight tool. You can carry it without the handle if you’re going light and carve a handle at the campsite which is fun.
